HOS Survey Vendors

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) developed the Medicare Health Outcomes Survey (HOS) Vendor Program to establish standardized data collection to promote comparability of results across Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAOs). MAOs contract with a CMS-approved HOS survey vendor to administer the survey using a mixed mode (mail and telephone) protocol. To become a CMS-approved HOS survey vendor, an organization must demonstrate that it has the capability, experience, and personnel to collect and report accurate survey results.

Survey vendors administer the HOS using the HEDIS protocol described in HEDIS Volume 6 and adhere to all guidelines in the 2024 Medicare Health Outcomes Survey Quality Assurance Quidelines and Technical Specifications (QAG), including guidelines for protecting member confidentiality and requirements for protocol adherence. This table lists the survey vendors that are conditionally-approved to administer the HOS in 2024, including contact information for the organization’s primary contact. Conferring final approval status is contingent on survey vendors successfully completing HOS survey vendor training in Spring 2024.
